i walked down to the levee early every morning just to look around. every single soul was still sleeping in what used to be my hometown.
five minutes of peace and quiet was like an eternity when i was away from all the cliques, and crowds, and fraternities.
i skipped rocks across the river towards the condominiums that the golf course built from the money i was sending them.
i couldn't even play the game, but my wife thought i should. she bought me a $5000 bag full of irons and titanium woods.
they're probably still in that locker gathering dust while i'm doing twenty for robbing the central trust.
they say on good behavior i'll get out in ten that i should be fully rehabilitated by then.
they call this federal pen a country club and you just pay your dues and my wife married my lawyer and moved to santa cruz.
i'll see you in ten years when i'm turning 45. life's crazy and no one gets out alive.
