i actually wrote the last line of this blog first. you can either go down and read it now or you can be honest with yourself and read the entire blog before reading the first line i came up with.
i ended that sentence with a preposition. that is a bullshit rule. just so you know.
it is sunday.
on sunday mornings, i like to put on old records.
yes, i still call them records.
an old record can take me straight back to the place i was when i first listened to it. it's better than any diary, journal, or blog ever thought about being.
37 minutes later......
sorry. i think i wrote this blog backwards.
14 minutes later....
god is great. god is good. let us thank him for this food.
good and food don't really rhyme.
don't worry about that right now. just say it.
whatever.
9 minutes later...
i'm going to see todd snider tonight. he's still the best live solo acoustic act i've ever seen.
i remember when i was about 25, i was working for home depot. i went driving around on my lunch break and was listening to the classic rock station. Todd Snider's "Talking Seattle Grunge Blues" came on. i had to pull over because i was laughing so hard. i listened to whole song in a gas station parking lot. after i found out who sang the song, i went straight to the music store and bought his cd, "Songs from the daily planet". in with his cd's, was a note saying he would be at the caravan of dreams on friday.
i sat at a front row table. on the second song, he jumped off the stage onto my table.
i've been a huge fan ever since.
i have several songs such as that that completely changed the course of my life.
"Mr. Mudd and Mr. Gold" by townes van zandt "Ring them Bells" by bob dylan "Pilgrim: Chapter 33" by kris kristofferson "Desolation Row" by bob dylan "It's alright ma, i'm only bleeding" by bob dylan "Philosopher's Stone" by van morrison "Ben Mccullough" by steve earle "Lungs" by townes van zandt "Sam Stone" by john prine "Bartender's Blues" by james taylor "These Days" by jackson browne "Box #10" by jim croce "Thunder Road" by bruce springsteen "Political Science" by randy newman
just to name a few.
the brain is a crazy thing.
don't smoke rope,
scott
