i'm taking a little whiskey and beer up to sessions. we're gonna break in jz's new studio.

i've got several new ones i'd like to get down before i o.d. or die in a plane crash.

i just finished a new one yesterday.

You won't find me in Virginia
I left there in the month of June
When i get to where i'm going, i'll send you
a postcard from the moon

and we'll all hum my tune.

You won't find me Montana
It ain't that time of year
My darling Diana
she tells me the weather is severe

so i sit here and play.

Somebody said they saw me down in Texas
Crossing that river about a month ago.
There's judge who works for Johnson County
Knows by now, i'm on a beach in Mexico.

You won't find me in Oklahoma
I spent five years there last fall
All this ramblin' and roamin'
Ain't got me anywhere at all.

i was thinkin' bout calling you.

You won't find me in Kentucky
But i've got family out that way.
If i'm ever feelin' lucky
I might just head back there someday.

and we'll all get together and play.

Somebody said they saw me down in Texas
Crossing that river about a month ago.
There's a judge who works for Johnson County
Knows by now, i'm on a beach in Mexico.

i might need another verse.

i am now taking applications. you will get 25 percent of 25 percent of half of half of the royalties, and absolutely none of the publishing, of course.

here's some of the best advice on songwriting i ever heard.

"don't have a guitar". buy one.
"don't have a typewriter." buy one.
"don't have a melody." borrow one. ----Tom t. Hall

i expect a verse completed by the end of the week.

class dismissed,

scott
