hey, what's up and shit?

it's good to be back on again. i've had a pretty fun weekend. my gig opening for leon russell went pretty well. i was somewhat proud of myself. i fucked up a couple of times, but managed to make it work for me somehow. sold quite a few cd's and hopefully made a few fans. i wish i could play for leon russell crowds all the time. nothing but old hippies who still have some respect for music and art. way better than a bunch of drunk ass fraternity boys who end up breaking or stealing my shit.....or puking in my equipment. i wanted to thank richard and wesley from the ridglea for thinking of me and asking me to do it. i really love you guys and i wish more club owners were as cool as you. thanks as always.

last night, i saw mike mcclure and susan gibson at the clubhouse concerts deal at the horseman. it was a cool show and ali holder opened for them. she was pretty impressive herself, especially for a 17 year old. she'll probably get even better after she gets all bitter and jaded from being in the music business too long. i love bitter, fucked up songs.

speaking of the music business.......

i've noticed that there has been some discussion on the egroup about the music business in general and i thought i'd give you my professional opinion about all of the bootlegging, cd-burning, and downloading shit.

first off, the term "music business" is an oxymoron.
i hope you all know this already.

secondly, musicians and songwriters have been getting fucked since the beginning of music itself. all songwriters and musicians should know this before entering the profession.

thirdly, most people will do anything to be thought of as cool or hip. i am honored that my shit gets burned as much as it does and i take it as a compliment that people will lie, cheat, and steal to possess it. bob dylan is the most bootlegged artist of all-time and i don't hear him fucking bitchin' about it. you just do what you can do and hope you make a living. you bastards are gonna pay as little as you possibly can for music just like everyone has done since a g-chord was first strummed. there's not a lot we can do to stop that.

i guess that's all i have to say about that.


jerry elmore spent the night and we started a scrabble game today until andy pate showed up and we played scattergories instead. it's been a busy day.

well, i am not allowed to vote, so it doesn't really matter, but i probably like edwards more than any of them. i really think hillary clinton is fucking up by not running now. she could actually win. i'd fucking vote for her.......if i could. that would be great. get the clinton's back in the white house where they belong.

it doesn't look like edwards will have a chance. the ones i always like get eliminated early. no matter what though, you should vote democrat. straight fucking ticket. saves a lot of time and you leave knowing you at least voted for the lesser of two evils.
